I in my "we're-building-a-house-and-I-don't-have-any-idea-what-I-am-doing" brillancy decided we needed white linoleum in the bathroom. It is now a sickly yellow. Bummer. I keep thinking someday i will strip the wax off and redo it. Yeah, someday.
Dark is no good either- you can see every crumb on my floors, just the other day we were saying white would be nice- guess not either-what's the answer? -L.
I think a wood floor that has different hues in it. White just shows every scuff mark, and when people walk barefoot on mine (especially the bathroom), there are grayish black marks that appear that will not come off with a mop. I have to scrub them with the white eraser things...love those, by the way.
My mom has the BEST linoleum....not remembering what it's called. It's very durable, looks like tile, and does not show the crumbs. She vacums it once a week and scrubs it once a month...(it is just the two of them)...but if I ever got linoleum again, it would be that. I'll have to ask her the name. Cheaper than wood.
We have linoleum in our entryway and bathroom that was the best decision we made on our house. You can grind gravel and mud into it (which the dogs do daily), but no one can tell. We got it at Larry's in Stillwater - forget what it was called. It looks like rustic stone with dirt between the cracks. :-) Expensive (we have small areas) but SO worth it! The wood floors on the other hand... closer and closer to sawdust with each passing day.
We were thinking about ripping out the nas-tay carpeting in the upstairs and replacing it with hardwood floors, but we have a dog, too. Ugh. What's the flooring answer here, women?? I certainly don't want to spend beaucoup buckage on wood and have the dog's nails scratch it all up...ah HA! I've got it! Doggie slippers!! Memory foam. With non-skid stayers on the bottoms like babies' sleeper feet.
Oh I am right there with you, Coffeegirl. My white linoleum has caused me more stress...can sweep and mop it clean, and within a few hours later it's bad again. Yes, not all linoleum is created alike. With my flooring in our Indiana house, I too could get by easily with sweeping every other week and mopping every other month if I had to! We're already budgeting next year's tax return for better kitchen flooring. A sanity saver!

Ah, white linoleum with tiny little pock-mark dents in it where the dirt likes to stick...and live.
Ooh. Sorry. Sure does look nice in magazines though, doesn't it? :-)

I'll. Be. Rich.
Pergo or pergo-like product? Don't know how it rates on the expense meter though. It is durable.

I second the votes for V's linoleum. That stuff's awesome.
