Here we go again...

Dad's back in the hospital with a fever of 101.6. I'm keeping the FCC blog updated....my dad's birthday is Monday. I need help with ideas for a gift. He suggested we give money towards a new pulpit at church. I can't do it. Feels too much like a memorial. He doesn't NEED anything...but I'm trying to think of something comforting, hopeful, thoughtful..and I don't have a lot of time. Any ideas?

Sheri- It is late and I don't have my creative thinking cap on- When I think of your family and your Dad the only truly meaningful gift I can think of right now is photos. You can make a really quick scrapbook at Archivers, they have a photo machine that you can add words and borders to photos- even bible verses might be nice- they even have a color copier right in the store. The use of all of their cutters and die-cuts is free. Maybe some fun memorable family pictures of when you and your siblings were young? Kind of like a "Remember the good times" album? Maybe it would lift his spirits and take his mind off of the here and now- Just an idea, (I'm willing to help you put it together if you need anything let me know, they are open tomorrow from 9:30am - 11 pm, there is actually a scrap mania event from 5-11pm tomorrow night that includes dinner for $15.00 total, and Sunday the work area is open from 11-6 I think.)L.

Your going to think I am nuts, but I have one more idea- It's kind of deep; How about giving your Dad a bible for each one of your children, ask him to write each of them a personal letter in the front page of each childs bible, written only to them. Maybe get 4 really nice leather bibles- what a gift to cherish, being able to read a letter from your Grandpa every time you open your bible. L.

I am sorry about the party. Praying about Dad's fever.

Thanks, L for all the ideas. I love the Bible one..it's quicker for now...and very meaningful. My dad wrote in my Bible when I was 16, it's the one I still use because he wrote in it. Jackpot! You're a genius...thanks.....

Thanks for the compliments you two- actually I am not a genius- Creativity and Hospitality are just two of my major gifts from God. I love to use them to help others- Glad you like the idea Sheri, sometimes it is a gift in itself to give rather than recieve- L.
