Fitness advice....

Okay..this is for all of you who have an opinion...there..that should narrow it down nicely (evil laugh...)

I need to lose 20lbs. I will turn 40 next year..and no, I'm not telling you my nickname. I want to be fit by this time next year. Here's what's in my basement for equipment. I have enough hand weights (up to 50 lbs.), a workbench, a NordicTrack, a mini-trampoline, and a stationery bike. The NT hurts my knees..and I was thinking of getting rid of it. Oh..and I have a Kettle Bell, that I'd really like to use.

Trainer Pat....maybe RZ could give you a bonus if you came up with a workout plan for this middle aged, tired mama.

Then, there's the whole eating thing...it needs to be a simple plan. Anyway..help. I'm sinking into a body that I don't like. I think they call it middle age. I think I'll just go eat the last piece of my birthday cake while you all ponder...

People even procrastinate give exercise advice. Ha! I have none to give really. Weight Watchers though works really well for me until my weight loss plateaus and then I give up with like 10 lbs. to go. Sad.

Oh yeah, Cinch by Shaklee. Protein shakes with vitamins? I am a member so I could get you discount rate without joining if you are interested? Christine Neilsen used it and said she loved it! Can I write that on here?! Also, get a cross-trainer! I know someone REALLY well who works for a certain fitness company.... Get rid of those dinosaur machines woman! Ok, I'm done. Give me a call. We'll chat. :o)

I've been really successful with the Winsor Pilates 30 minute workout. You really will see fast results. You can probably get it at the library to try it out.

Hi! I've been following your blog for a while. I found you through Erin. I suggest an on-line bible study called The Lord's Table at www.settingcaptivesfree.com Its all about eating in moderation, feasting on God instead of food (big one for me as I'm an emotional eater), and getting exercise daily. YOu get an online mentor to help you through the 60 day course. I was a mentor until recently (I'm 6 months pregnant). I lost 35 pounds last year through all I learned on that site. Feel free to ask me more! :)

Had a Latte meeting tonight, so I just came home to check the blogs...thank you for your great advice..I'll look into that site tomorrow, Laura. Thanks so much for the link...I am an emotional eater..I admit. Reegz...most of those shakes have stuff in them I'm allergic to...so I have rice protein on hand and throw it in my vitamix. I "know" what to do...but I lack something.

Oh, Erin, this is embarrassing. I own three Winsor tapes.....again..I probably know what to do. I just want someone to break it out for me so I don't have to think. Lazy or just plain tired? Probably one in the same. Thanks..

Sheri, what if we ate and drank and lifted weights and drank water and did cardio to the glory of God? What if it were our routine, our habit? What if we prayed for God to help us break out of our sloth? I am where you are my friend and trying not to focus on scale etc. You and I know what to do. We do.

It's not about this new this or that new that.

Carla, check out the site from Laura (see above comment). It's a free online Bible study...60 days...thinking about starting Jan. 1. Anybody else in? It's exactly what Carla said...doing it all for God's glory...getting rid of the sloth..an area of total weakness and depravity on my part. Sad...eat....anxious..eat some more....not honoring, I tell you.

Can't wait to follow your progress!!!

Hi Erin! I plan to start again after the baby... maybe April 1st. They don't recommend following the eating schedule when nursing, but the study is a great way to get you back on track!

I reccomend reading "Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think" by Brian Wansink. It's a really good book and it's all about the psychology of why we all gain weight slowly and how to reverse the process. good luck :)
